Recipe: Scones
5:05:00 PMI love scones! Since I reached home quite early yesterday, so i baked some scones for my breakfast today.
Never thought that making scones is super easy and not messy! The ingredients are not that much too and very easy to find. Lucky me..i have all the ingredients at home. :)
So, here I wanted to share my scones recipe taken from a recipe booklet!~
Since it was my first time making scones, so I just follow the recipe given. First time buat tak boleh derhaka ye kawan kawan. Haha.
Ok..here's the recipe!
**Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees celcius
Ingredients:
- 225g self raising flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 25g caster sugar
- 50g unsalted butter, softened (but I melted it)
- 150ml milk
- 1 egg, beaten
- Grease the baking tray with a little butter. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl. Stir in the sugar.
- Add the butter and rub it into the flour mixture until it resembles fine breadcrumbs.
- Add the milk, a little at a time, until it becomes a smooth dough
- Lightly flour the work surface and then roll out the dough until it is about 2 cm thick.
- Use the pastry cutter to cut the dough into round scones. Re-roll any dough that is left over and cut out more scones. Place onto the baking tray.
- Brush the tops of the scones with the beaten egg. Place in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve with clotted cream and jam.
